	Connectivity & Management The FVS338 Firewall features 8 x 10/100 switch ports with auto-sensing and Auto Uplink™ to auto detect speed, duplex & cable type. The FVS338 also uses NAT routing technology, enabling up to 253 LAN users to share one IP address assigned by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). The FVS338 also supports SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), use it with any SNMP-based management software including NETGEAR’s NMS100 ProSafe™ Network Management Software. The FVS338 Firewall also comes with connection insurance: A built-in serial port for dial-up access should your broadband connection fail.

	Private, Secure Business Communication The FVS338 Firewall is an ideal choice for growing businesses that are concerned about security breeches that can either expose sensitive information or cause network downtime. High on security this true firewall provides Denial of Service (DoS) protection and Intrusion Detection using Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI). The FVS338 will protect your business against DoS attacks such as Ping of Death, SYN Flood, Land Attacks, IP Spoofing, tear drop, and many more. Keyword content filtering allows you to control Web access and block unacceptable sites. Logging, reporting, and real-time notification alert you to problems or attacks. The FVS338 Firewall ensures communication between multiple office locations remains private with up to 50 simultaneous Virtual Private Network (VPN) connections (security associations) using secure Public Key Infrastructure (PKI). All data traffic between business locations is encrypted using DES, 3DES, or 256-bit AES. The FVS338 also supports IPSec, PPTP, L2TP and VPN pass-through functionality for use as part of a client-based remote connection to a larger enterprise VPN. Centralised management of a distributed workforce is possible with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) enabling secure remote management capabilities. In summary the FVS338 is an excellent alternative to more expensive and hard-to-deploy non-routing firewall ‘appliances’.

	Easy to Set-up & Interoperable NETGEAR’s Smart Wizard™ connects to your ISP quickly, and the easy-to-use Web-based configuration screen and Install Assistant reduce set-up time. The VPN Wizard capability makes setting up secure, remote connections easy. The FVS338 VPN Firewall is VPNC compliance and compatible with all major VPNC certified devices and standards-based IPSec Client software, including NETGEAR’s ProSafe VPN Client Software. Support for DHCP (client and server) as well as PPPoE allows for easy, widespread deployment, whilst Auto Uplink™ on the LAN ports eliminates the need for crossover cables. Compatible with Windows®, Macintosh®, UNIX®, and Linux®, or any other TCP/IP based platforms.
